Sean Bean Information Basics

Sean Bean was born Shaun Mark Bean in Handsworth, Sheffield, England. His father ran a very successful family business. Sean has a sister as well. Sean has been married four times, and is presently single. He has three daughters.

Sean Bean Education and Early Career

Sean dreamed of being a professional football player. Due to a childhood injury, he wasn't able to pursue that career choice. He was learning to be a welder when he decided to look into a career in the arts field. He discovered and fell in love with drama. He ended up with a scholarship to the RADA, Royal Academy of Dramatic Art.

After college, Sean appeared in several stage productions with the Royal Shakespeare Company. His first film was in 1986, playing Ranuccio Thomasoni in Caravaggio. Soon, he was a widely recognized actor in England due to television acting roles. He is well remembered for his sexy scenes with Joely Richardson in Lady Chatterley. This propelled him to the status of sex symbol. However, his role in the television series Sharpe is what brought fame into his life.

Sean Bean in Hollywood

Sean's first acting gig across the pond came with his performance in the miniseries titled Scarlett, a series about the civil war, based on a sequel to the classic Gone With the Wind. His first Hollywood movie was with Harrison Ford in Patriot Games. Sean would go on to play many bad guy roles.

What caused Sean Bean's star to soar was his part as Boromir in The Lord of the Rings movies. Sean has since been in several movies and stage productions. He does voice over gigs as well for advertising firms.
